Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between a broker and a Registered Investment Advisor?

Registered Investment Advisors have a fiduciary duty to their clients and are legally required to put their clients’ interests first. Brokers are not held to that same standard.

“How are you compensated?”

We are a fee-only financial advisor. Our fee is tiered beginning at 1.5% and declines based on the level of assets under management.  This fee is for our investment management services. We do not charge commissions.

Who is an ideal client for a fee-only investment advisor?

The ideal client for a fee-only investment advisor is one who wants to partner with a firm to build a customized plan that will protect and grow their assets.  Fee-only advisors are best suited for those interested in a long-term strategy and a patient approach.

What financial institutions do you represent?

None. We are independent and do not represent any financial institutions.

If we work together where are my assets held?

All assets managed by WRFA are held with Schwab Institutional, a division of Charles Schwab & Co.

Do you require my permission to buy or sell securities in my account?

No, we are a discretionary asset manager. As a discretionary asset manager, we buy and sell securities based on an Investment Policy Statement tailored for your specific goals and individual risk tolerance. This means you get to relax and know that we are using our best judgement and fiduciary care to keep you on track regardless of whether you are traveling, working, or enjoying a round of golf.

Has any employee of the firm ever had any regulatory action against them?
